WHEN: Tuesday, August 4 at 11:00 am EST
WHERE: Sea Bright Public Beach, Ocean Ave., Sea Bright
HOSTS: Eastern Monmouth County Chamber of Commerce
Jersey Shore Partnership
INVITED: Senator Joseph Kyrillos, Assemblywoman Mary Pat Angelini, Assemblyman Sean Kean, Assemblyman David Rible, Assemblyman David Wolfe, Freeholders Tom Arnone & Lillian Burry, Shore Mayors, Lynda Rose, Eastern Monmouth County Chamber of Commerce, Margot Walsh, Executive Director of The Jersey Shore Partnership
WHAT: In support of legislation (S2775 AND A4215) to increase beach replenishment funding from $25 million to $50 million.
WHY:
Shore Protection is underfunded and will not be able to meet the increasing costs of beach protection projects.
Beaches are an economic driver in New Jersey’s Tourism economy and need critical protection and replenishment.
Under a unique cost-sharing partnership, the federal government has provided 65% of the cost of beach replenishment projects to the State’s 35% investment. New Jersey must be prepared to meet its share of future costs to protect this partnership.
