Governor Christie recently announcement a multi-year state channel dredging program. Dredging bays and rivers is essential to clear the channels for boating, minimize flooding from severe storms, and for protecting the waters for marine life.
The first project was recently launched in two creeks in Keansburg, Monmouth County. The three other shore counties also will be the beneficiaries of this program. Additionally, a federal grant, secured by Congressman Pallone, will pay for the dredging the Shrewsbury River and moving the sediment to Monmouth Beach where it will be used to create their dune system – a win/win for residents and boaters on the Shrewsbury River and another step in strengthening Monmouth Beach’s ocean front from storm damage.
